Greenwood, Indiana: Outdoor Baseball Movies Screened Before Baseball Tournament

Greenwood

These are a few shots from , . I am not sure how long they have been putting them on but it is presented by the local library there. We went to see Sandlot for my nephew’s birthday party. Before the show they had baseball tournaments and hot dogs and popcorn. The kids absolutely loved it! My son and his cousin enjoyed dancing to the oldies for the crowd before the show started.

We will be attending shows this summer and the kids can’t wait. Its a great night of free family fun.

Thanks!

Zupermovies Celebrates 4th Season of Outdoor Movies in New York

ZuperMovies is celebrating our 4th Season of Outdoor Movies in Upstate/Western . We’ve screened over 100 events for customers ranging from as far West as Evans, NY to as far East as Oneida, NY. We are looking forward to very exciting/entertaining Summer with more than 60 events already on the calendar. Next Friday, June 11th we will be donating our services for the 3rd consecutive year for a Lakeside Memorial Hospital benefit (small local Hospital). In addition, we also donate our services to a number of local “Relay’s for Life” (American Cancer Society) and this fall will donate for a second consecutive year to a very unique event named “Camp Out for Cancer” in Barker, NY.

I am attaching a few very special photos of our events.

1st – Good Neighbor Days – The event has been going on for years (how many I don’t exactly know). The supervisor of the Town is a great guy named Paul Kimball. While a small community, they love to cater events to the kids of the town. The movie is preceeded by live childrens bands and performers. The movie is follow by a wonderful Fireworks display by Young Explosives (Rochester, NY). The best part of this event is the short intermission we infuse allowing the kids to get up stretch out and do a little dancing to some popular animated music videos.

Clarkson Outdoor Movie

2nd – Movies at Thornell Park – Probably my most successful partnership. Jessie Hollenbeck, Director of Recreation, has really taken hold of this event. Offering advertising opportunities to local businesses and marketing the events extremely well. They currently hold the 2009 ZuperMovies’ attendance record. The best part of this event was the glowing necklaces in the audience as well as the total attendance.

Pittsford, New York: Outdoor Movie

3rd – “Park-It-In-” Festival – another small community with a BIG turnout. This is an event that is tied into a wonderful town festival. Residents are encouraged to Camp-Out in the beautiful town park and enjoy an evening of Bands, Food, Fireworks and of course the best Outdoor Movies provided by ZuperMovies. The Director of Recreation, Steven Fowler, is always looking for the newest movies to satisfy the growing attendance. Fourth Year will be the 4th year in a row (movie undecided). Best part is the overwhelming ovation at the end of the movie.

park-it-in-parma-outdoor-movie

4th – Perinton Amphitheater. This event is special to me as I love this venue our Open Air 25×14 Elite screen fits perfectly. We screened our 1st event last summer at this venue and am anxiously awaiting the 2010 event.

Lacey, Washington: Lacey Parks & Recreation Host Outdoor Movie Nights

Outdoor Movie Fun in Lacey, Washington

Outdoor Movie Fun in ,

Lacey Parks & Recreation does movie nights in our park Saturday nights in the summer and have been so doing since 1997. Lacey, Washington is located just north of Olympia, the state capital and we have about 36,000 in population. Our movie nights are great family events each summer with attendance ranging from 200-over 1000 per night. It is a part of our summer entertainment series that also includes Tuesday evening Children’s Entertainment (Jugglers, magicians, etc) and Wednesday noon music concerts.

We have provided some entertainment prior to the movies like hosting the Lacey Idol contest and also doing Lacey Game Show nights to include the audience in interactive participation and bring them out prior to the movie at dusk. For 2010 we will precede the movies with music concerts by local and regional bands. We wrap up the season with either a double feature or All nighter showing movies that fit a theme, like Super Heroes (Batman, Superman, Spiderman), Harry Potter or the Twilight movies.

The Movie nights are sponsored and presented by the Lacey Parks & Recreation Department and supported by various community sponsors. At this time we use a retractable screen and our own projector & speaker system but are looking to add movies to another one of our parks without the retractable screen, so we would love to win a new screen! Photos above include one of our regular movie nights as well as a 3D movie night.

Another fun thing we did was to add a holiday movie on the big screen to our annual Christmas Tree lighting for the families to watch while they waited to see Santa. This fall we plan to add a scary movie night around Halloween with scary surprises lurking in the park.

Outdoor Movie Screen Lights Up Allen, Texas

The City of ’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting began as a small community event more than 15 years ago but has since grown from a gathering of approximately 150 people, to a crowd of more than 1,000 people. It was originally held at the fire station and the lights were strung from a flag pole. It then moved to the front of City Hall and the tree was an Eastern Red Cedar that was transplanted from Station Park in 2000. The program was held in the parking lot. In 2004 the event moved into the newly designed Civic Plaza. The tree then became a 35 foot artificial tree with more than 20,000 lights. The move to the Plaza also allowed for more holiday decorations and lights. We now have more than 40,000 lights in the Plaza and on the buildings surrounding the plaza.

Outdoor Movie in Allen, Texas

Outdoor Movie in Allen,

The objective of the event is to provide a fun, unique event that will “kick off” the other Holiday events happening during the weekend. As participants enter the event by lighted path they will be greeted by Santa’s Elves and carolers who will unveil a sea of more than 40,000 lights in the Plaza. The Holiday tree lit with more than 15,000 white lights will be the center of attention.

The event includes a Holiday Program featuring groups such as Class Act, the Allen Ice Angels, the Allen High School Encore Choir and Marion Elementary School Choir. During the program the Mayor steps in and talks about the meaning of the holiday season and then counts down the lighting of the tree in conjunction with fountain fireworks. At the completion of the performance the choir will sing Here Comes Santa Claus to introduce Santa and Mrs. Claus. The show will officially conclude with a fireworks show off the roof of City Hall. The event also have many activities for children including character interactions, a craft station, 3 face painters, the Texas Snowman activity, a movie and letters to Santa.

Several local organization come onboard to provide treats. This year treats were provided by Raintree Pediatrics, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen, CoffeeNCream, Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, Sublime Chocolate, Mealtime Market, New Heritage Church, Tree of Life Chiropractic, First Christian Church of Allen and Key Club. The treats included coffee, hot chocolate, popcorn and sipping chocolate.

The photo displayed above was taken while we were testing the screen prior to the event. The children belong to several treat providers from the event. I love how they kids were completely mesmerized by the inflatable movie screen despite the fact some many other activities were taking place around them at that time.

PRIZE: Open Air Cinema Pro 16’ screen

ABOUT RANDALL’S PHOTOGRAPH:

’s Longest running “open air” Movies series. Started in May of 2009.

“We all enjoy the “open air” cinemas during the summer season, but we wanted to take it a little further based on the not just the economy but really giving back to the community. So we created the longest running movies series in Atlanta last year – 26 weeks of Movies! Hosting anywhere from 200 – 600 people per week.

Our Regal Cinema has also joined as we show sequels and they give movie posters, passes and other promotional items, gifts and games away

Held at Atlantic Station in the heart of Midtown Atlanta, in cooperation with Jones Lang LaSalle, the Atlanta Foundation for Public Spaces and the Atlantic Station Civic Association along with the Neighborhood Association, make it happen each week. Its about bringing the Community together and helping neighbors and friends reconnect.

Our series is called Movies and the Market, because we added to our event a little open air market. We have a group of artist that set-up every week also, to sell their artwork, jewelry and unusual items. this helps off-set the cost of the movies each week. As the popcorn, and movies are FREE to everyone.

The program runs every Thursday night, and in some cases like Harry Potter we showed the entire series up to the newest release, so we had four movies that week.

Each week, we have a line of people asking about our screen, equipment and if we can do it in their neighborhood, back yard, work function – you name it. We are very proud to work with Open Air Cinema and the equipment has be used weekly now, and it has become a main stay our on year MUST DO.”
