La Mesa, California: Dive-In Outdoor Movies Make a Splash in La Mesa, California

Photo Credit: James Baird/Union-Tribune. What's the perfect way to beat the summer heat? Dive-in outdoor movies at the pool. Family friendly movies have been screened at the La Mesa Municipal Pool in La Mesa, California. Kids love splashing around in the pool while watching their favorite movies. During the summer the community pool moonlights as an aquatic theater with a big projector screen and plenty of water for movie-goers to drift on. Movies usually included kid-favorites such as "Finding Nemo" and "The Little Mermaid". Movies started around sunset, and a lifeguard staff was present. Parents usually congregated on lounge chairs around the pool, while kids floated and played while watching the movie. It also gives kids a chance to see each other while school's out for the summer. The La Mesa dive-in, which began with a big-screen television and about 40 guests, has now graduated to a projector screen and audiences that have topped more than 200. Previous films, such as "Harry Potter" and the "Lion King," drew major crowds. Sounds like a great activity that's fun for the whole family!
